Why So Many Celebrities on TRT Are Going Public With Their Use of Testosterone Replacement Therapy

More celebrities on TRT are opening up about their experience with testosterone replacement therapy — and you can too with TRT in New Jersey and New York!

Overview

Something interesting is happening in Hollywood.

What used to be considered a controversial topic that celebrities wouldn’t dare admit to — even if they supported it — is now being promoted as one of the most promising breakthroughs in men's health today.

We’re talking about testosterone replacement therapy, of course.

And you’d be surprised at some of the celebrities on TRT today.

You’ve probably heard Joe Rogan praising it on his podcast or the many rumors behind Hugh Jackman’s suspected TRT use, but testosterone replacement therapy runs much deeper than most fans would think.

So, what is it about TRT that has Hollywood aching for more?

And why is it resulting in more fans searching Google for a “TRT clinic near me?”

Don’t worry, we’ll break down everything you need to know about Hollywood’s love affair with testosterone replacement therapy — and how it’s helping men everywhere look and feel their best at any age.

What Is TRT & Why Do Men Take It?

Most of us know what testosterone is — or have at least heard of the term before.

Testosterone is a male sex hormone that plays a crucial role in the development of male reproductive tissues (testes, prostate) and secondary sexual characteristics (facial hair, deep voice, muscle mass).

It’s also present in women and produced in female ovaries, albeit in much smaller amounts.

Production increases dramatically during puberty and peaks in our early 20s before declining gradually with age — with some studies estimating that it declines as much as 1-2% yearly by the time we turn 35.

But some people may see their testosterone levels decline much sooner than that.

Hypogonadism is a condition where the body doesn't produce enough sex hormones and is generally characterized by low sex drive, fatigue, loss of muscle mass, mood changes and erectile dysfunction.

The good news is we can counter this decline with testosterone replacement therapy.

Also known as TRT, testosterone replacement therapy is a treatment that restores normal testosterone levels through injections — which are usually administered in a medical setting with direct supervision.

Why Is TRT So Popular In Hollywood Today?

Everyone has their own story (and reasons) when seeking TRT — and celebrities are no different.

For many, TRT represents a legitimate solution to a problem that's plagued them for years — low T levels that drain energy, kill motivation and make it impossible to maintain the physique their careers demand.

And that’s especially true in an industry where your appearance can make or break your next role.

After all, movie stars in their 50s are expected to look better than they did in their 30s and are competing with actors half their age — many of whom have yet to experience a drop in testosterone levels yet.

Plus, older actors are expected to maintain an impossible standard while working 16-hour days on set.

And a drop in T levels can make those days harder to get through.

But that’s where TRT comes in.

With testosterone replacement therapy, aging celebrities can reclaim the energy, focus, motivation and physical prowess they need to stay competitive in an industry that shows no mercy to Father Time.

And that’s true for every celebrity — including actors, musicians and influencers.

Celebrities on TRT: Who Has Shared Their Story?

You've heard the rumors. You've seen the transformations.

But which celebrities have actually come forward and said, "Yes, I'm on TRT"?

While the list of celebrities on TRT is likely long, many of them choose to either not talk about it or are too worried about the judgment that might come with admitting their use of testosterone replacement therapy.

There are, however, a select few who are leading the way in this regard.

From one of TRT’s most vocal supporters in Joe Rogan to one of the more unlikely voices in actor Dax Shepard, let’s take a look at some of the famous celebrities who have shared their experience with TRT.

Joe Rogan

Joe Rogan confirmed his use of TRT in a 2018 episode of his “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast.

In the episode, he talks about how he began undergoing testosterone replacement therapy when he was 40 years old — 10 years prior at the time — after several years of seeing his testosterone levels dip.

He was amazed at the results and claimed that it ‘100% helps.’

“It’s real simple. If you’re fine with not feeling as good—good! But if you’re not fine with it … hormone replacement therapy exists for a reason, and that reason is it makes you feel way better,” he said in 2018.

He went on to detail the best way to go about TRT:

  1. Only do TRT if it’s administered by a healthcare professional
  2. Go to a doctor who tests your blood levels and nutrient levels
  3. Make all the necessary changes in your life outside of TRT

He added that it makes your body function better and helps you avoid ailments and conditions related to your body breaking down due to age – but he was also adamant about people doing it the right way.

Dax Shepard

Dax Shepard confirmed his use of TRT in a 2024 episode of his “Armchair Expert” podcast.

At one point in the episode, Shepard’s guest Ashton Kutcher complimented the actor on his “phenomenal” physique and rather large biceps, which he compared to those of Rogan and cartoon character He-Man.

Shepard’s secret? Working out six days per week and “heavy testosterone injections.”

"I spent my whole life as a medium boy, and now I'm a big boy and I like it,” Shepard said of his journey from 185 to 210 pounds — which he also attributed to lifting heavy weights and drinking protein shakes.

Shepard went on to clarify that his family has a history of low testosterone levels.

"Forget the body; mentally I love it because it makes me far more on fire to be alive," he said of TRT.

"I was literally retiring, that was the plan. I'm out,” he continued. “Started taking testosterone... All of a sudden I was on fire to work. I was like, 'I like this version.' This is the version I enjoy.”

Bert Kreischer

Bert Kreischer first opened up about TRT in a 2021 episode of his “2 Bears, 1 Cave” podcast.

At the time, the comedian said he was planning on meeting with a doctor to discuss the treatment after struggling to lose weight and to help address his declining testosterone levels due to his age.

By February 2024, Kreischer was all-in on TRT and very open about the benefits.

During an interview with Graham Bensinger, Kreischer praised TRT for increasing his energy levels, aiding recovery from working out, improving his sleeping patterns and increasing his sex drive.

“You know everyone in Hollywood is on it,” he told Bensinger. “It’s a no-brainer.”

He then bonded with Dax Shepard over TRT during a December 2024 episode of “2 Bears, 1 Cave.”

At one point in the episode, Kreischer confirmed that he had been on TRT for about two years and credited his TRT use with helping him get to the point of benching 300 pounds.

Jay Cutler

Jay Cutler has been an avid supporter of testosterone replacement therapy for years.

In a 2023 edition of his “Jay Mail” newsletter, the four-time Mr. Olympia described TRT as “life-changing” and revealed that he’s committed to using his platform to spread “awareness” about safe TRT practices.

And a big part of that awareness involved encouraging others to seek professional guidance.

“With something as serious as your testosterone health,” he wrote in the newsletter, “you need to have blood work and the advice of an expert, to tell you how much you really need, and when.”

“Otherwise, you’re just guessing and taking unnecessary risks,” he added.

Cutler has also used his platform to discuss the importance of cycling on and off TRT when levels get too high — because, like anything in life, too much TRT can be dangerous and you have to find a balance.

Robbie Williams

Robbie Williams opened up about his TRT use in a 2011 interview with Esquire.

The singer, who rose to fame in the 1990s as the lead singer of the boy band Take That and has since pursued a solo career, said he initially considered taking human growth hormone, also known as HGH.

“It’s what all the old fellas are on out there in LA that's making them look 40 instead of 60,” he said.

“It’s improving their health, their memory, their hair, skin. Could give you cancer. I weighed that up. Thought I’d have it anyway. Went to see a Hollywood doctor. Had my blood tests. Went back,” he added.

That’s when his doctor suggested something different — testosterone replacement therapy.

“He said, ‘You don't need HGH. You’ve got the testosterone of a 100-year-old man,’” Williams continued.

His wife, Ayda Fields, further opened up about his experience with TRT during a 2018 appearance on the show “Loose Women,” where she revealed that he suffered with low T levels, lethargy and depression.

“They said he had the testosterone of an 80-year-old man. He was in his 30s at the time. I think he was surprised,” she said of her husband.

“The minute he took the testosterone he felt as though he had a new lease on life, he could do things, he was happy, he was motivated and it had nothing to do with getting big muscles,” she added.

Alan Ritchson

Alan Ritchson opened up about his use of TRT in a December 2023 interview with “Men’s Health.”

The actor shared that he worked out extensively while preparing for his role as Jack Reacher in the first season of the hit show “Reacher,” but it came with consequences as his body took a beating daily.

Ahead of season two, Ritchson decided to try something different — testosterone replacement therapy.

"Getting on testosterone was huge for me," says Ritchson. "I had none by the time I was done with season one, due to the stress and the fatigue and what I had done to my body.”

“For me, it’s a long game. I want to do Reacher for 15 years... I don’t want to have to have surgery after every season, and testosterone helps,” he added.

He added that TRT helped him get the most out of his workouts — and much more.

"I'm a big advocate of it, especially for people in their forties or above. [Men aren’t] aware that it’s out there, but it could be really life changing. It could be a mood stabilizer for people,” he continued.

“It can do a lot more than just help you be buff, but it certainly helped in my journey,” he added.
